An Unexpected Change of Plans
My friend and I had originally planned to hike around the Barrage de Tseuzier. Our first bus, however, missed the connection to the next bus heading to the barrage. Along with a busload of other passengers, we boarded the next bus toward the télécabine. While most passengers continued by shuttle toward Tseuzier, we decided to change our plans and walk the Tour des Deux Bisses, which started near where the bus dropped us.
What began as a transport problem turned into a very pleasant summer hike. For almost the entire route we followed the well-signposted trail beside the historic irrigation channels, with glacier-cold mountain water flowing toward the valley. Much of the route was shaded and refreshingly cool. We were impressed by the mix of younger and older walkers enjoying the trail.

For lunch we took a short detour away from the channel to one of the picnic tables, then returned to the bisse and continued. In the middle part of the route the scenery became more dramatic as the trail passed beneath rocky cliffs.

One unexpected wildlife encounter made us stop: a small snake swimming through the bisse. It was easy to miss at first, but clearly visible against the pale glacial water.

The walk finished at Étang Long, a small lake with a restaurant nearby. From there it was only a short walk to the Arbaz, Café du Lac bus stop for the journey back to Zürich.

An unplanned change of route became a refreshing and unexpectedly memorable summer hike.
